Don’t worry, you don’t have to run a country these days to have access to some imperial beers. Maybe a decent paycheck at the rate of some but our six pack this week features some tasty and more than affordable imperial style beers.
Oskar Blues – Ten Fidy
Great Divide – Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti
Clown Shoes – Crasher in the Rye
Big Sky – Ivan the Terrible
Prairie Artisan Ales – Pe-Kan
Prairie Artisan Ales – Prairie Paradise
Small Batch Word: Imperial – This was meant to signify the person receiving the beer like Russian czars and was mainly associated with high strength stouts. Anything relatively over the 8-9% ABV can have the imperial name added to it. IPA’s have stepped up their game and have become synonymous for making malty, hop bombs like Dogfish Head’s 120 minute Imperial IPA.
